LET’S ROCK & ROLL WITH DRENALIZE, DESTINATION : EVERYWHERE !

Les lumières s’éteignent, l’ambiance se tamise, le public commence à s’agiter et c’est dans cette atmosphère que Drenalize entame son show.

Le concert s’ouvre avec “Point of No Return” : les premières notes de guitare retentissent et on y retrouve une ambiance vieux rock qui est encore davantage mise en avant quand Chris Voltage, chanteur du groupe, ouvre les hostilités. Une voix claire et dynamique, une énergie communicative, c’est le retour en arrière instantané.

Une fois les présentations faites, le groupe entame “Hot Shaking Night”, la tension monte, le public danse, nous n’en sommes qu’à une dizaine de minutes de concert et c’est déjà le feu. Puis on nous emmène loin, il a suffit de quelques phrases d’introduction pour que les fans reconnaissent le prochain titre et c’est en symbiose avec le groupe que d’une seule voix le public crie “DESTINATION EVERYWHERE !”.

Les guitares sont, précises, propres, le refrain accrocheur, Rick Thunder nous offre des lignes de basse remarquables, on se déhanche et on est propulsés dans l’age d’or du rock & roll : ce titre éponyme de l’album représente parfaitement l’ambiance de ce dernier, une bouffée d’air frais emplie de nostalgie qui nous transporte ailleurs.

S’en suit ensuite “Time Attack”, morceau instrumental dans lequel les deux talentueux guitaristes Arthy Squared & Max Yme nous offrent un échange de solos de compétition : on ne peut qu’admirer la technique & l’aisance dont ils font preuve, ainsi qu’une réelle complicité.

Le reste du show se déroule comme il a commencé, dans une ambiance enflammée & débridée, rythmée par l’énergique Alex Gricar à la batterie. Drenalize nous propose leur version de “Horny Son of a Bitch” de Danger Danger, suivi de “Kick Your Hearts Out” pour lequel, que l’on connaisse ou non la chanson, on finit par scander le refrain avec toute la salle tellement l’ambiance est contagieuse.

Après “Let’s Get Adrenalized”, la salle s’assombrit et Max Yme entame son solo, acclamé par un public conquis. Toutes les lumières dirigées vers lui, l’effet est captivant.

La première partie est bientôt terminé, et le groupe finit son passage avec “Crazy for Your Love”, morceau plus calme dans lequel chant, basse, batterie & guitares sont en parfait harmonie, et “Rock’n’Roll”, reprise du groupe Steelheart.

La dernière note est accueillie par un tonnerre d’applaudissements (pour lesquels nous ne sommes vraiment pas les derniers à applaudir de toutes nos forces).
Pour conclure, si vous avez soif de rock & roll, si vous voulez vous replonger le temps d’une soirée, d’un album ou bien même d’une heure : foncez écouter, découvrir, redécouvrir Drenalize !

   

 

INGLORIOUS : COME READ ALL ABOUT IT !

 

Tout s’éteint de nouveau, et c’est dans une ambiance palpable que les musiciens d’Inglorious montent sur scène, suivis par Nathan James, chanteur du groupe. Le show s’ouvre avec “Read All About It” et quand la voix de Nathan retentit dans la salle on est immédiatement captivés, évidemment par sa voix qui monte si facilement et si joliment dans les aigues mais également par l’énergie que lui et les autres membres du groupe nous offre dès le premier morceau.

La chanson se termine, c’est déjà la folie dans la foule mais pas le temps de se reposer, on enchaine avec “Breakaway” : les guitaristes Drew Lowe & Andreas Eriksson ouvrent le bal dans un rythme effrené, suivi de près par Phil Beaver à la batterie, toujours souriant malgré la rapidité du morceau.

Breakaway touchant à sa fin, le silence retombe, puis il suffit de quelques notes pour que la salle eclate en reconnaissant le prochain titre : “High Flying Gipsy”. Je ne saurai être objective en parlant de ce morceau, étant donné qu’il est pour moi une des plus gros hit d’Inglorious, je peux simplement vous dire que la prestation live était à la hauteur de tout ce qu’on pouvait attendre de la version studio : c’était incroyable. Le chant parfaitement clair de Nathan porté par les musiciens, la lourdeur des guitares, le rythme parfait offert par la batterie, le tout appuyé par le talentueux Colin Parkinson à la basse. Je ne pourrais que vous conseiller d’aller écouter ce titre si ce n’est déjà fait.

On repart ensuite vers des horizons plus blues avec “Change is Coming”, extrait du dernier album ‘Inglorious II’, musique qui transmet un message fort, qui montre que le groupe s’est imposé sur la scène avec véhémence, ce qui se ressent lors de la prestation live de cette chanson. La tension est a son paroxysime quand Nathan scande “Every single damn second will be worth it when they hear me say” suivi du refrain qui enflamme le Forum de Vauréal.

S’enchainent ensuite “Making me Pay”, également tiré du dernier album & “Warning”, ouvert par Drew, chapeau sur la tête et guitare en main qui lance les hostilités, pour nous offrir une version très acceléré du morceau : Colin est déchainé, Nathan monte dans les aigus comme jamais, les cheveux de Phil volent dans les airs au rythme de ses baguettes et Andreas, posé dans un coin de la scène, sourit alors que ses doigts dansent sur sa guitare.

Retour au deuxième opus avec “Black Magic”, surprise de leur set, musique qui pourrai rappeler l’ambiance du Moulin Rouge, ou autres cabarets: On est ravi de découvrir la puissance de cette chanson en live.

Petit interlude instrumental avec Colin et Phil, qui savent nous montrer leurs talents dans un redoutable duo où basse et batterie s’entrechoquent. La vitesse d’exécution et la technicité dont ils font preuves laisse bouche bée les musiciens confirmés comme les néophytes.

Après nous avoir régalé avec “Taking the Blame” puis “I Got A Feeling”, Nathan se présente au devant de la scène pour rendre hommage à Chester Bennington & Chris Cornell, avant d’entamer une émouvante reprise de “Numb” (Linkin Park) puis de “Black Hole Sun” (Soundgarden) accompagné par tout le public. Il existe sur Youtube plusieurs vidéos de ce passage, que je vous encourage vraiment à aller regarder. On ne peut qu’applaudir cette prestation qui aura permis de rappeler que personne n’est éternel, et qu’il est important de se souvenir de ceux qui nous ont précédé : merci à Inglorious pour ce moment.

Une fois que les applaudissements se sont calmés et que les larmes ont séché, on repart pour une tournée d’émotion avec “Faraway” qui débute uniquement par la voix de Nathan portée par une guitare : le morceau est très mélodique & calme au début, avant de s’accélerer pour une montée en puissance très rock et un final uniquement instrumental.

La fin du concert approche, et avant de quitter la scène le groupe entame “Unaware” suivi de “I Don’t Need your Loving” sur laquelle toute la salle s’époumonne durant le refrain : malgé le show qui se termine, tout le monde est toujours en forme, tant parmis les membres du groupe (qui assureront après cela quasiment 1 heure de dédicace et de photos) que parmi le public où tout le monde chante et danse jusqu’à la fin.

Le morceau se termine, les membres du groupe retournent en coulisse mais nous savons que ce n’est pas fini…et en effet, Inglorious revient et pas pour rien : le rappel est lancé par “Holy Waters”, titre du premier album qui reste à ce jour un des morceaux les plus connus du groupe. Le public est déjà en transe, et ce n’est rien comparé au moment où Nathan James décide de descendre dans le public pour chanter. Les solos du morceau sont assurés par Drew sur le devant de la scène puis par Andréas, pendant qu’encore une fois Phil assure la batterie & Colin rock sa basse.

Le dernier morceau sera “Until I Die”, et c’est un public déchainé qui va acclamer Inglorious jusqu’à sa sortie.

C’était vraiment un concert incroyable, qui achève leur tournée européenne
& dont on retiendra l’énergie des membres du groupe & leur parfaite symbiose sur scène (et en dehors).

LET’S ROCK & ROLL WITH DRENALIZE, DESTINATION : EVERYWHERE !

 

Lights go down, the atmosphere is sifted, the audience is getting excited and it’s in this ambience that Drenalize’s show begins.
The concert opens with “Point of No return “: the first guitar notes sound and there is an old rock atmosphere that is even more put into light when Chris Voltage, singer of the band, opens the hostilities. A clear and dynamic voice, a communicative energy, it’s an instant one way ticket to the past.

Once the presentations are made, the group starts “Hot Shaking Night” : the tension rises, the audience dances, we are only about ten minutes into the concert and it is already fire. Then we are taken away, only a few introductory sentences were needed to the fans to recognize the next title and it is in symbiosis with the group that with one voice the public shouts “DESTINATION EVERYWHERE! “.

The guitars sound precise, clean, the chorus is beyond catchy, Rick Thunder at the bass guitar offers us some heavy riffs, we shake our bodies all over the place and we are propelled into the golden age of Rock & Roll: this eponymous title of the album perfectly represents the ambiance of this one, a breath of fresh air filled with nostalgia that carries us elsewhere.
Then follows “Time Attack”, instrumental piece in which the two talented guitarists Arthy Squared & Max Yme offer us a splendid exchange of solos: one can only admire the technicality and ease they demonstrate, as well as a real complicity.

The rest of the show goes on as it began, in a fiery & unbridled atmosphere, punctuated by the energetic Alex Gricar behind the drums. Drenalize offers us their version of ” Horny Son of a Bitch” (Danger Danger), followed by “Kick Your Hearts Out” for which, whether we know the song or not, because of the contagious atmosphere we end up singing the chorus with the whole room.

After “Let’s Get Adrenalized “, the room darkens and Max Yme begins his solo, acclaimed by a conquered audience. All the lights directed towards him, the effect is crazy.

And so the first part is almost done, and the band finishes its gig with “Crazy for Your Love “, quieter piece in which vocals, bass, drums & guitars are in perfect harmony, and “Rock’n’Roll “, cover of the Steelheart group.
The last note is greeted by a thunder of applause (for which we are really not the last to applaud with all our strength).
To conclude, if you are thirsty for some rock & roll, if you want to dive back in time for an evening, an album or even an hour: go listen, discover, rediscover Drenalize!

INGLORIOUS : COME READ ALL ABOUT IT !

 

Lights go out again, and it is in a palpable atmosphere that the musicians of Inglorious arrive on stage, followed by Nathan James, singer of the band. The show is opened with “Read All About It ” and when Nathan’s voice rings in the room one is immediately captivated, obviously by said voice that rises so easily and beautifully in the treble but also by the energy that he and the other members of the group offer us from the first song. The song ends, it’s already madness in the crowd but no time to rest, we keep going with Breakaway: guitarists Drew Lowe & Andreas Eriksson open the ball in a crazy rhythm, followed closely by Phil Beaver on drums, still smiling despite the tempo of the anthem.

Breakaway touching to its end, the silence falls, then it only takes a few notes for the room to burst when they recognize the next title: “High Flying Gipsy”. I cannot be objective whilst talking about this song since it is in my opinion one of Inglorious’ biggest hit. I can only tell you that the live performance was everything you could expect from the studio version: it was incredible. Nathan’s perfectly clear vocals carried by the musicians, the heaviness of the guitars, the perfect rhythm offered by the drums, all supported by the talented Colin Parkinson on bass guitar. I could only advise you to go and listen to this title if it has not already been done.

The following song now leads us to some more bluesy horizons with “Change is Coming “, extract from the last album ‘Inglorious II’ that sends a strong message, showing that the band has won the stage with the strenght of its own arms, which is felt during the live performance of this song. The tension is at its paroxysime when Nathan sings “Every single damn second will be worth it when they hear me say” followed by the refrain that sets fire to the Forum of Vauréal.

Then comes “Making me Pay “, also from the last album & “Warning ” : Drew, hat on his head and guitar in his hands lets the devil out of his bottle by offering us a very accelerated version of the song: Colin is unchained, Nathan voice is higher than ever, Phil’s hair flies in the air at the rhythm of his chopsticks and Andreas, sitting in a corner of the stage, smiles while his fingers dance on his guitar.

Lets’s go back to the second opus with “Black Magic”, surprise of their set, music that can recall the ambiance of the Moulin Rouge, or other cabarets: We are delighted to discover the power of this song played live.

Small instrumental interlude with Colin and Phil, who know how to show us their talents in a fearsome duo where bass and drums collide. The speed of execution and the technicality they are showing off leaves speechless the confirmed musicians as well as the neophytes.
After blowing our hearts up with “Taking the blame” then “I Got A Feeling”, Nathan shows up at the front of the stage to honour Chester Bennington & Chris Cornell, before starting a moving cover of “Numb” (Linkin Park) and then of “Black Hole Sun” (Soundgarden) sang along by the public. There are several videos on Youtube of this moment, which I really encourage you to go and watch. We can only applaud this performance, which has reminded us that no one is eternal, and that it is important to remember those who were there before us : Thank you to Inglorious for making that possible.

Once the applause has calmed down and the tears have dried, we are down for another emotional tour with “Faraway” which begins only with the voice of Nathan carried by a guitar: this song is very melodic & calm at the beginning, before accelerating to a very rock climbing and a full instrumental ending.
The end of the show is approaching, and before leaving the scene the group spoils us with “Unaware ” followed by “I Don’t Need your Loving ” on which the whole room is screaming their lungs out during the chorus: despite the show ending, everyone is still in shape, among the members of the group (which will ensure after that almost 1 hour of signing and photos) as well as in the audience where everyone sings and dances until the finish line.

The song ends, the members of the group return behind the scenes but we know that it is not over yet…and indeed, Inglorious comes back and not for nothing: The encore is launched by “Holy Waters “, title of the first album that remains to date one of the most known songs of the group. The audience is already overexcited, and it’s nothing compared to when Nathan James decides to go down to the audience to sing. The solos of the song are performed by Drew on the front of the stage and then by Andreas, while Phil once again ensures the drums & Colin rocks his bass.
The last song will be “Until I Die “, and it’s crazy audience that will cheer Inglorious until they leave the stage.

It was really an incredible concert, which ends their European tour and from which we will remember the energy of the band members & their perfect symbiosis on stage (and outside).
